The only good side to this scanner is the sensitivity, it is superb.but only after you can get it programed!!!! Now that I have vented, somewhat, can ANYBODY please, in a easy step by step process, help me understand why this could keep happening, and how to fix it. This new 996P2, is no comparison to previous models, I never wanted to toss those in the dump. UpMan, or someone at Uniden, please pay attention, I have a BC780XLT, a 996T, and love them both. I haven't even started on the P2 's terrible, but my county radio works great. Look under Uniden Tech Support section Post by UPMAN STICKY- BCDx36DP Test for P25 Decode Improvement My CSP trunk system is MOTOROLA Scares me, Ive personally worked on these P25 systems when I worked for Motorola. I am no computer expert, but I can program every one of my other scanners, even Motorola, Ericsson or Harris, and Kenwood two-way radios, but nothing compares to this piece of crap. I bought it from the bearcat warehouse, it came completely unprogrammed, not even weather frequencies, although I was told it would have some basic programming. You can create groups of talkgroups such as Alameda Fire, Alameda EMS, and Alameda Sheriff and assign a group quick key. You have 10 group quick keys available for each system (conventional or trunked). For system quick keys with 2 digits (10 and higher), press the. ARC-XT and ProScan have a 30 day trial period, so that you can use the software to see if it fits your needs, before you have to purchase it. You have 100 (0-99) system quick keys available on the 996P2. There are three software packages available to program your BCD325P2. This scanner has been nothing but a headache and complete PITA in so many ways. This link for software information is also on the page referenced above. I am using both Windows XP and Windows 8. I cannot get the scanner firmware updated because neither of my computers will recognize the scanner driver. I have downloaded the BC VUP3 and unzipped it, no luck. Well today, I decide I want to add to my NC VIPER file, the ARC-Pro reads the scanner, I go thru the motions, try to upload the new talkgroup info, then the computer DOESN'T recognize the scanner. Then, just before I throw the POS2 into my back yard, it reads it. You can often find drivers for these scanners in their respective Facebook or groups.io. See the Uniden section below for more information Unlike their GRE and Whistler brothers, the Pro-106 and Pro-197 do not come with the USB cable you must buy it separately Uniden Scanners. It acts like all communications are encrypted, it will flash the Talk Group and UID, but it wont change to the talk. I believe a version of Proscan is free and there is Butel ARC XT BASIC and ARC XT PRO, which cost. Is it possible to downgrade a BCD996P2 firmware from Version 1.10.02 back to Version 1.09.12 The reason I ask is since I updated the firmware, I can no longer hear P25. But there are aftermarket programs available. I was on the talkgroup development committee so I had everything I needed for data, (frequencies, talkgroups, etc.) I updated my ARC-Pro, and guess what, it wouldn't recognize the scanner. The PRO-2052 is a Uniden product with a DB9 connector in the back. Uniden does not supply a programming software for the BCD325P2. I bought this 996P2 about two months ago, as my county (Pittsylvania, Va) uses a Harris P2 system. Reply on here or email me or call or text me if you’d like.Another P2 that software doesn't recognize So any advice or someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong. But there are like 8 different sites here in the county and what I did to keep me from having to scroll through every site every time I want to hear one channel that could hit on any different site in the county I copied all the control channels to one site and didn’t mess with the band plan or status but or the end code which I believe is all off. Now I don’t know much about radios or trunking or really much of anything. I am trying to pick up Gardendale pd and I know they aren’t encrypted because I picked them up on the channel one time while I was driving down the road and I haven’t been able to get them since and I met someone in a group on Facebook who lives in the county but is about 30 minuets away and he is using the homepatrol 2 and has no issues picking up everyone who isn’t encrypted. I live in the county and the only thing I am picking up is fultondale pd, Birmingham Fire main, Birmingham pd east, and the county sheriffs department centerpoint channel. I just received my brand new BD996P2 I’ve updated the firmware downloaded ARC-XT Pro and imported the frequencies and settings in from radio reference for my county Jefferson County Alabama.
